As we think about and set our hopes, dreams and goals for 2021, I'd like to share with you some of the successes we've had in 2020.
Our residential teams helped 12 people find a new home and receive individualized supports from SAILS. Some of them had been living in institutions, or hospitals for months to years while waiting for services to be available in their community of choice and provide the services they desired.
Our residential team was also able to ensure 11 people received continuous care and services by transitioning to SAILS from Premier Care Services upon the owner's retirement.
Our home care team was able to help more than 25 people new to SAILS maintain their independence in their own homes.
Our vocational services team was able to assist 5 new job seekers obtain gainful employment.
Our vocational services team was able to bring 5 new people into community inclusion and engagement services. This service helps people learn to build meaningful relationships and social networks.
COVID Updates:
Staying home for the holidays to keep each other safe and healthy is the act of love that each of us needs right now.
From November 20th to present, we have had 11 people served in our residential and kids programs test positive for COVID-19 and go into isolation for up to 21 days. This is a staggering number and concerns us greatly.
King County Public Health issued guidance that we are to immediately roll back to Phase 1 their Safe Start Guidance. We kindly request for the safety of your loved one, their housemates, and our staff:
If going to your home, please do so for 14 days to determine if the person has been exposed during their time with you.
We are working with our supervisors to ensure there are covered outdoor areas with heaters for you to be able to spend time with your loved one at their home.
Vaccine Updates:
We are partnering with OmniCare Health and CVS pharmacies to bring the vaccine to your loved ones and our staff. This is for all of our service lines!
In the past week, we have attended webinars and spoken with our contacts to prepare for the vaccine distribution at our agency. We are waiting to be scheduled for a couple of dates and times.
What we need from you:
Once we receive the consent forms from CVS, we will be sending those to you to sign and return.
As we have more information, we will get it out to you.
Supporting our community:
This year SAILS Washington has made a donation in your honor to Washington Civil and Disability Advocates.
